Heather Barron Bio
Heather Barron is a certified biologist and canine first aid instructor from the interior of BC. In 2005 she started working as a canine fitness trainer at Top Dog Kennels to put herself through university at UBC-Okanagan. After graduation she spent some time in Nelson, BC working as a veterinary assistant and volunteering at the local animal shelter. Next, Heather took a certificate program in Animal Welfare through Thompson Rivers University. It was at this time that Heather's love for strong breed dogs sparked her to change career paths and become a professional dog trainer.
After signing up for Ben's Professional Dog Trainers Program, Heather adopted her dog from Top Dog Kennels, packed all her belongings into her truck and moved to The Island. Heather holds a professional dog trainers diploma and several pet first aid certifications.
Heather's short term goals include traveling internationally to volunteer with various dog rescue groups and learning about pet photography. Her long term goals are to make a comfortable living doing what she loves, start up a strong breed dog rescue and travel the province doing humane education seminars with special focus on Breed Specific Legislation, canine first aid and animal cruelty.
